Retired Jerseys Mike PaxtonIn 2007, Mike Paxton became the first, and currently only, former Memphis Tiger pitcher to have his jersey retired by the program. Paxton was a four-year letterwinner under Bobby Kilpatrick, going 22-11 and striking out over 200 batters in that time. He was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in 1975 and enjoyed a four-year stint in the bigs. Paxton still ranks fifth all- time in career strikeouts (208) and fourth-best single season ERA (1.87 in 1974). He was inducted into the M Club Hall of Fame in 1982. 2011 Memphis Baseball Experience • Page 46
