The Goods Mart 1 8 9 L A FAY E T T E S T R E E T Imagine a convenience store that offers organic slushies, grab-and- go sandwiches by local chefs, and packaged snacks that are actually good for you. These and roughly 200 other curated products line the shelves at The Goods Mart, which opened in New York's Soho neighborhood in November 2018. This second Goods Mart store is the brainchild of Rachel Krupa, a food and wellness publicist who founded the first Goods Mart in the Silver Lake district of Los Angeles in April 2018. The concept is to recreate the warmth of the corner store in her Michigan hometown, stock it with non-GMO products free of artificial addi- tives, and infuse the space with a socially conscious sense of com- munity. "What you'll find at The Goods Mart is great music, the incorporation of art, and fun design and partnerships with local charities and makers," Krupa says. The Goods Mart Soho has just 400 square feet of brightly lit, well-organized retail space. Krupa says that food and beverages are 80 percent of the inventory; beauty products and home goods comprise the rest. Prices are surprisingly reasonable, with a fresh- brewed 8-ounce cup of La Colombe coffee at $1.25. Packaged snacks like chips, candy, and energy bars run from $2 to $5, and prepared sandwiches, frittatas, and burritos are under $8 each. "We work with local chefs/restaurants for grab and go, and we like to rotate them, so our customers always have something new to discover," Krupa says.
