E n s u r i n g a S t r o n g F u t u r e 47 | P a g e Operations and Water Quality The Operations Department is responsible for the delivery of safe, high quality drinking water, collection and treatment of wastewater and delivery of recycled water to our customers. There are many talented professionals contributing to the District's Mission each day. Crews work to provide a high level of service as well as respond to all types of emergencies at any given time. We are very excited to be developing a new Five Year Business Plan and Budget and have been working hard to put a plan together that fits the District's budget and keeps our maintenance programs running at sustainable levels. During this Plan, Operations and Maintenance workgroups will remain committed and focused on system, facility and infrastructure maintenance. The upkeep of these various and complex systems ensure reliable, safe and contaminate free services are provided to District customers. There have been many retirements in the five years leading up to this Plan. In response, the District has shifted its recruiting efforts towards hiring high potential leaders at all levels. An exciting aspect of this is seeing how eager existing and new staff members are to learn all they can about District Operations, making them more valuable to themselves and the District. In order to continue this trend, ongoing investment in employees is an important part of the Operations' plan. Investments in training, new improved tools, technology, leadership training and cross training of staff will continue to keep employees engaged and challenged. Operations and Water Quality
