E n s u r i n g a S t r o n g F u t u r e 55 | P a g e Park and Campground Santee Lakes Recreation Preserve is a nationally recognized and award winning, 190-acre Park and campground surrounding seven scenic lakes filled with recycled water. The preserve provides a safe and relaxing setting for RV camping, cabin stays, fishing, picnics, fitness, bird watching, pedal boating, biking and special events in a natural environment. Santee Lakes operates as an independent enterprise operation, receiving no subsidy from taxpayers or Padre Dam water or sewer customers. Based on the Santee Lakes Dynamic Vision Plan, the following recommendations are proposed to address key issues and needs and to build on the strengths of Santee Lakes Recreation Preserve. These recommendations are guided by the following overarching strategic goals: • Develop a vision and plan to improve services and facilities: Demonstrate Flexible Focus in conjunction with our core values of an exceptional guest experience and innovative workforce. • Proceed with Capital Improvements based on the Dynamic Vision Plan: Embrace entrepreneurial risk and invest in the infrastructure. • Remain a self-sustainable enterprise operation: Monitor expenses, create efficiencies and seek new revenue streams while continuing to provide intrinsic environmental, aesthetic and recreation benefits. • Embrace Organizational Development: Create an engaged and skilled workforce that is highly focused on our goals and designed to achieve superior business results. The successful achievement of the Dynamic Vision Plan will help strengthen the connection between the Park, the community and Padre Dam, serving as a testament to the benefits of water recycling and innovative planning.
