The Tigers players talked about and then they backed it up. They wanted to bring the trophies back to Memphis and they did. In a span of seven days, Memphis swept the Conference USA regular season and tournament titles, marking the fiſth time in the last seven seasons the Tigers did that.
Heading into the regular-season finale at Tulsa Mar. 3, Memphis needed a win to take the C-USA regular-season crown outright. The Tigers did so in impressive fashion with a 78-66 win.
Then, as the C-USA Tournament No. 1 seed, Memphis rolled through its three tourney games en route to claiming the championship Mar. 10. The Tigers won their three tournament games by an average margin of 25 points.
