TIGERS RALLY IN FSC “GAME OF THE WEEK”
The Tigers opened the 2009 season on Sept. 5 in a late-night battle with the Bradley Braves in the Fox Soccer Channel “NSCAA Men’s Soccer Game of the Week”. Down 1-0 with less than five minutes remaining in the game, Memphis sophomore forward Parker Duncan provided the U of M with late-game heroics after he used a back-heel tap in of a shot by Ryan Ruble to even the game at 1-1 and send the game to overtime. The game would ultimately go to two overtime periods before it ended in a 1-1 tie.
The comback victory would kick start a solid start for Memphis in the opening month of the season. The youthful Tigers would end the month of September with a 4-1-2 mark heading into their Conference USA slate.
