ments going forward. In essence, it's a self-review of how you spend your time; since you're your own boss, it's up to you to manage the messages you send yourself. Another step is to spend time looking at the time to come. How much is left in life? In the year? The month? The day? How does all that compare to what's on your to-do list? What needs to come off the list in order to give you a good shot at completing what you truly want? The better you do on the top priorities, the better you'll feel and the more effectively you're likely to use your time going forward. Where and how you do all of that is, of course, up to you. The journaling I do every morning helps me get my mind around what I need to do for the day, how I'm feeling, what I've done, what's hap- pened around me and what I see coming up on the horizon. As I jot down thoughts and feelings, I'm pretty much always reminded of something I want to do, someone I want to appreciate or someplace I can contribute positively that wasn't in my mind when I started writing. When I start to worry about running out of time, I almost immediately get my thoughts into line—I know that worrying is energy expended unproductively. Appreciating each moment and everything in it has helped me as well; it's turned my relationship to time into a positive, rewarding experience I like being part of, rather than an effort to escape from someone else's idea of a rat race. 2. Draft a Positive Vision of the Future If you've read anything else I've written about business, you won't likely be surprised to hear me say that improving your relationship with time will be markedly more effective if you begin by writing out a clear vision of how you'd like your relationship with time to look and feel. With that in mind, here is the question to pose to yourself: When your relationship with time is as close to ideal as you can imagine, what will it look like? Pushing deeper: How will you measure your success? How will you know if it's working? How will you feel about yourself? About others you interact with about time? Mind you, there are no right visions or wrong visions. Whatever you put down is what's best for you. It's your relationship and you can design it nearly any way you want. Begin by writing out a clear vision of how you'd like your relationship with time to look and feel. Pushing deeper: How will you measure your success? How will you know if it's working? How will you feel about yourself? About others you interact with about time? 602.489.5135 ~ wholesale@brownies.com Summer Fancy Food Show Booth 5230 MAY/JUNE 2012 47 Fudgy all-natural Belgian chocolate brownies in new single-serve packaging.
