Wildflowers From July to September the Pilbara's vibrant floral shades contrast with the red earth and golden spinifex grass. Rivers, creeks and lakes are lined with river red gums, coolabah, silver cadjeput and desert bloodwood trees. Gorges spring to life with flowering rock fig and rock kurrajongs. In season, carpets of wildflowers of all colours, sizes and shapes like mulla mulla, the majestic Ashburton pea or any number of 65 species of acacia (wattle) can be seen throughout the region.
