Kununurra Kununurra is located on the banks of one of the Kimberley's major waterways – the Ord River – and sits close to the Northern Territory border. The vast, stunning landscape around Kununurra is truly awe inspiring, and is the perfect backdrop for an outback adventure and your gateway to the Gibb River Road. Explore • Cruise the Ord River, swim, relax and check out the vast array of flora and fauna. • Take a scenic flight over Purnululu National Park Bungle Bungle Range, the massive Argyle Diamond Mine or the spectacular Mitchell Falls. • Spend a few days barramundi fishing on the Lower Ord River. • Cruise the vast inland sea of Lake Argyle. At normal supply level it impounds over 18 times the volume of water contained in Sydney Harbour. • Visit the town's many Aboriginal, contemporary art or zebra rock galleries. • Your choice – pink, champagne to sparkling white, view the Argyle Diamond showrooms which have some of the finest gems in the world. • Self 4WD or take an organised tour of the geological wonder that is the Bungle Bungles. • Drive out to historic Ivanhoe Crossing, the old concrete causeway over the Ord River. • Take in the spectacular view of the Ord Valley from Kelly's Knob Lookout. • Tour the town and irrigation area of the Ord Valley; buy some fresh Ord Valley produce. • Swim in one of the nearby waterfalls, waterholes and springs. • Embark on a self-drive Gibb River Road adventure. • Visit Mirima National Park on the edge of town to see what is known as the mini Bungle Bungles. • Check out Australia's oldest continually operating rum distillery.
