No one knew it at the time, but the Tigers would make an appearance in the WNIT in what would be Joye Lee-McNelis' last season at Memphis, as McNelis returned to her alma mater in May of 2004. Memphis defeated Tulsa in the opening round, a school that would become a Conference USA foe the following season, before falling at Western Kentucky in the second round. Memphis also took part in another last that same season, playing a non-conference game against UALR in The Pyramid on December 20, 2003. That would be the final women's college basketball game Memphis played in the building before moving to FedExForum in 2004-05. Victoria Crawford would garner C-USA third team honors in her junior season.
