Senior guard Brittany Carter was named a finalist for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award in 2011-12, becoming one of 10 women's Division I basketball players in the country to be in the running for the prestigious award handed out each year to a player who opted to return for their senior season of college basketball. The Lowe's Senior CLASS award is based on four different categories – classroom, community, character and on-the-court success. Carter, a three-time All-C- USA honoree, also served as the team captain for three seasons and graduated in December of 2010 with a degree in criminal justice. Carter could have bypassed her senior eligibility, but opted to return to help the Tigers to a 25-8 2012 record and a second round WNIT berth.
