A member of the newly-formed Conference USA, the Tigers won the league's first tournament crown, grabbing the automatic bid to the NCAA field. The Tigers defeated DePaul in overtime in the first C-USA championship game, which was played in Birmingham, Ala., 93-87. Memphis was placed in the Southeast Regional, where they fell to Ohio State in the first round, 97-75. LaTonya Johnson was named a first team All-C-USA honoree, while Keeta Matthews was named a second team honoree.
