Course Descriptions Course Descriptions Chandler-Gilbert Community College Catalog and Student Handbook 2015-2016 For the most current information regarding course descriptions, log on to www.maricopa.edu/academic/ccta. 501 ENG270 / 3 CREDITS / 3 PERIODS WORKPLACE WRITING Emphasizes rhetoric and composition with a focus on adapting writing to meet the needs of very specific workplace objectives and audiences. Uses primary and secondary research practices to investigate a variety of workplace discourse communities. Prerequisites: Grade of C or better in ENG102 or ENG108. Course Notes: Develop advanced college-level writing strategies through three or more writing projects comprising at least 4,000 words in total. ENH - English Humanities ENH110 / 3 CREDITS / 3 PERIODS INTRODUCTION TO LITERATURE Introduction to international literature through various forms of literary expression; e.g., poetry, drama, essay, biography, autobiography, short story, and novel. Provides a global overview of literature with special emphasis on diverse cultural contributions of women, African Americans, Asian Americans, Hispanic Americans, and Native Americans. Prerequisites: None. ENH114 / 3 CREDITS / 3 PERIODS AFRICAN-AMERICAN LITERATURE Survey of major African-American writers from Colonial period through the present; analysis of trends and movements within African- American literary history; analysis of literary types and selected works. Prerequisites: None. ENH201 / 3 CREDITS / 3 PERIODS WORLD LITERATURE THROUGH THE RENAISSANCE Examines a selection of the world's literary masterpieces within their cultural contexts from ancient times through the Renaissance. Analyzes the influences of major literary philosophies, themes, genre, and styles. Assesses the contributions of major writers. Introduces the terminology of literary analysis. Prerequisites: None. ENH202 / 3 CREDITS / 3 PERIODS WORLD LITERATURE AFTER THE RENAISSANCE Includes a selection of the world's literary masterpieces from the Renaissance to modern times. Prerequisites: None.
