Recommended program for students other than those in Administration of Justice programs: Students employed by campus security who are not majors in the Administration of Justice program should be given at least twenty (20) hours of training with pay before being allowed to function independently as a campus security guard. This training should include, but not be limited to instruction in: 1. Wearing of the uniform, general appearance, and demeanor 2. The use of the various security report forms and how to properly complete them to provide requested information; General report writing methods 3. Public relations methods used on the campus 4. Crime prevention methods used on the campus; Patrol methods used in buildings and grounds. 5. Basic techniques for interviewing students, faculty and visitors relative to the incidents 6. Laws and regulations governing the actions of campus security personnel concerning rendering of assistance to students, faculty and visitors on the campus 7. Basic first aid D. Student Security Guards Employee Benefits As student employees there are not entitlements to employee benefits; i.e., vacation retirement, sick leave, health and life, or disability insurance. Students will, however, be covered under Worker's Compensation Insurance. E. Student Employment Records The student security guard's employment records will be maintained at the office of the chief of security and reviewed periodically by the vice president of student affairs. Student Governance (AR 2.5.5) Student governing bodies derive their authority from the Maricopa County Community College District Governing Board that exists in accordance with Arizona Revised Statutes. The administration of the District is vested in the Chancellor who delegates responsibility for each college to the college president who serves in a management and policy implementation capacity having the ultimate responsibility for all activities of the college. The president shall designate the administrator(s) (i.e., directors of student leadership) at each college who will be charged with the responsibility for working with the college student governing body(ies) in the development of college student activities and programs.
