Study of geological structures and rocks, fossils, and geologic maps. May require field trips. Prerequisites: None. GLG110 / 3 CREDITS / 3 PERIODS GEOLOGIC DISASTERS AND THE ENVIRONMENT Acquaints students with the use and importance of geological studies as they apply to the interactions between people and the earth. Includes geological processes and hazards such as floods, earthquakes, and landslides; use of fossil fuels; mining of raw materials. Prerequisites: None. GLG111 / 1 CREDIT / 3 PERIODS GEOLOGICAL DISASTERS AND THE ENVIRONMENT LAB May accompany GLG110. Basic geological processes and concepts. Emphasis on geology-related environmental problems concerning Arizona. Case histories and field studies. May require field trips. Prerequisites: None. GLG229AA / 1 CREDIT / 5 PERIODS FIELD STUDIES FOR EDUCATORS Field trips to selected geological areas in Arizona in order to collect and/or observe geological phenomena. Designed for pre- college teachers. Prerequisites: None. GLG230AA / 1 CREDIT / 5 PERIODS FIELD GEOLOGY OF THE SOUTHWEST Field trips to selected areas in the Southwest, such as Arizona, Utah, California, and Sonora to observe and interpret various geological features and phenomena. Prerequisites: None. GLG103 suggested but not required. Course Notes: GLG230AA may be repeated for a total of four (4) credit hours. GPH - Physical Geography GPH111 / 4 CREDITS / 6 PERIODS INTRODUCTION TO PHYSICAL GEOGRAPHY Spatial and functional relationships among climates, landforms, soils, water, and plants. Prerequisites: None. GPH212 / 3 CREDITS / 3 PERIODS INTRODUCTION TO METEOROLOGY I Atmospheric processes and elements. General and local circulation, heat exchange and atmospheric moisture. Prerequisites: None.
