What training would you recom- mend for people who want to get into the food industry on the business or management side? After college, I went to the Culinary Institute of America, but I'm not a very good cook, so that was never really an option for me. I tried to do something that could be a bridge between business and cooking. And fortunately for me, I've had the blessing of working for two people who are as good at what they do as anyone—Wolfgang Puck and Danny Meyer. It seems both you and Danny Meyer have run your business with graciousness. Have you consciously shaped this culture, or is it a reflection of how you both naturally operate? Our brand is hospitality. We also serve food and beverage to go along with that. So no matter whether we're in the consult- ing business or the hamburger business or whatever, hospitality is what we do. What we have more than anything is an unwaver- ing belief in how to do business that comes directly from Danny called "Enlightened Hospitality."
