Liam Collins, a native of Skibberean, Ireland, is a key contributor in the midfield for the Tigers and put his name in the record books this season. In 18 games, Collins racked up 11 assists, placing him in third place for the most assists in a season by a Memphis Tiger. He trails only Hall-of-Famer Dayton O'Brien (14 in 2004) and Rogerio Lima (12 assists in 1997) for the most assists in a single season.
For his play, Collins earned the respect of the coaches as he was named Conference USA All-Conference First Team. The sophomore had two games where he recorded multiple assists, South Carolina and Nebraska-Omaha. In the contest against UNO, all three assists by Collins were on goals by Confer- ence USA Player of the Year Mark Sherrod. He tallied one goal on the season, the game-winner at Belmont.
