ood companies grappling with employee engagement are constantly on the lookout for new ideas to
help workers feel greater ownership over their jobs, whether to boost productivity and profits or to bet-
ter retain personnel. For their part, many employees already want more participatory roles in business
matters, but they often don't have an avenue for creating change in the workplace, so new ideas go unheard.
Bringing in an employee stock ownership plan isn't right for every
company, but there can be very real financial benefits—and not just for staff.
